What Zone 2 Actually Does Inside Your Body

The physiological case for Zone 2 training centers on the mitochondria — the organelles inside muscle cells that convert oxygen and fuel into usable energy. Sustained low-intensity aerobic work stimulates the body to produce more mitochondria and improve their efficiency. Over weeks and months, this adaptation means your muscles can generate more energy for the same effort, and fatigue resistance improves meaningfully.
